Issues

Support and development of arts and culture is an integral part of building the quality of life and spirit of our communities. Children and adults alike benefit from participating in and enjoying art and cultural activities and events.

Goal

• Calaveras County should be a place where arts and culture are developed and appreciated.

Actions

• The county should do everything in its power to ensure the success of the Calaveras Arts Council and similar volunteer organizations that enrich our lives.
• Provide logistical, material and financial support as needed to local and countywide arts and cultural organizations to help them nurture the arts and provide the public with opportunities to experience and appreciate all forms of the performing, visual and literary arts and history.
• Provide resources for the development of appropriate art venues, such as construction of outdoor amphitheatres in public spaces.
• Provide support to the schools and local and countywide arts and cultural organizations to expand artistic and cultural awareness and instruction among young people, including support for arts-in-education programs, support to youth centers for the expansion of arts and culture activities, organization of arts festivals for young people, and so forth.
